CAT SANCTUARY
Malama Popoki built a cat sanctuary in 2005 to house cats that have been rescued and must be relocated. These are cats that for one reason or another cannot be placed in private homes, and would otherwise be euthanized.

Cats rescued by Malama Popoki share a meal together.
The sanctuary is located on a half acre of land, part of a piece of property owned by a Malama Popoki supporter in Waianae Valley on the island of O'ahu, Hawaii. We built a chain link fence around the perimeter, with a separate "Cat House" inside the sanctuary.

A Malama Popoki volunteer takes head count at the sanctuary.
The Cat House houses cats and kittens that must be separated from the rest of the colony---such as when acclimating new arrivals at the sanctuary.
